Hampton V1 Team Mounts Comeback in First Round Playoff Game
The Hampton V1 team faced off against Baldwin in the first round of the playoffs. After a scoreless first period senior Kyle Spencer gave Hampton the lead with a goal early in the second period. Baldwin then scored the next four to take a commanding 4 -1 lead into the third period.
Hampton began their comeback about a minute and a half into the third period with a goal by sophomore Evan Koprivnikar, his first of two third period goals. Josh Jan then scored on the power play and Koprivnikar netted his second of the period to tie it four with about five minutes remaining. Sophomore Justin Griffith scored the game winner with only nine seconds remaining to advance Hampton to the semi-final round.
Hampton Inline V1 team scores a major upset semi-final round to advances to the finals
Hampton stunned Seneca Valley in game one of the finals with four first period goals. Evan Koprivnikar opened the scoring with junior Dan Grob netting two goals and senior Josh Jan adding a late first period goal. Hampton played sound defensive hockey the rest of the game to limit Seneca Valley scoring chances en route to 5-2 victory.
In game 2 Hampton and Seneca played even through the first period with sophomore Luke Schwerer getting the only tally of the period for Hampton. Seneca Valley scored the two second period goals and then poured it on in the third period which led to a decisively 8 – 2 victory.
The Hampton rebounded from the game two thumping to defeat Seneca Valley 7-5 in the deciding game of the best 3 series. Hampton was led by Kyle Spencer and team captain Dan Grob, contributing with 2 goals each. Senior David Beam, junior Andrew Karman and sophomore Evan Koprivnikar scored a goal each and junior Nassim Stegamat provided exceptional defensive play to help the #5 seed advance to the finals versus the #2 seed Cannon Mac.
Hampton Inline V1 team sweeps series to win first V1 championship
The Hampton Inline Varsity1 team dominated game one of the championship series winning by a final score of 5-1. Sophomore Justin Griffith, the teams overall points leader, led the team in scoring with 2 goals and 2 assist. Senior Kyle Spencer and sophomore Luke Schwerer each had a goal and an assist. Senior Josh Jan also scored and provided stellar defensive play throughout the game. Junior goalie Dom Pascucci stood tall in net and made several big saves to help keep Hampton in control of the game.
In Game 2 of the best of three series Hampton over came three 2 goal deficits to again mount a furious comeback victory. Hampton fell behind 2 -1 after two periods with Josh Jan scoring on the power play for Hampton lone goal. Canon Mac and Hampton then traded the next three goals with Dan Grob scoring to for Hampton leaving them down 4-2 halfway through the third period. The comeback began with about four minutes left in the game on a Justin Griffith goal. Daniel Grob scored a power play goal two minutes later to tie it. With about a minute and half left Kyle Spencer ripped a shot from the slot to give Hampton the lead and the eventual first V1 championship for the organization.
